Legal Navigation Internship
Legal Navigation Internship,
Fall 2025
ABOUT US
Despite lawful presence, asylum seekers, asylees, and resettled refugees experience many challenges in their path toward self-reliance. Without trusted support systems, these individuals and families struggle to establish safe, stable, and self-sufficient lives.
AsylumWorks was created to educate, equip, and empower newcomers seeking safety to overcome health, employment, and legal barriers. Together, we are building a world where all people in need of protection can access the knowledge, skills, and support they need to thrive in their new communities.
Direct client services are free and available to individuals and families living in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia, regardless of language or country of origin.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
AsylumWorks is seeking a current law school or pre-law undergraduate student to provide practical assistance to our Legal Navigation program, including enhancing client service and programmatic functioning in support of our mission. This opportunity is ideal for a driven individual seeking experience in immigration legal services for asylum seekers, refugees, and humanitarian parolees. This volunteer internship will allow participants to connect meaningfully with AsylumWorks staff and support critical immigration legal services for AsylumWorks clients. The Legal Navigation Program Manager will supervise the internship.
AsylumWorks recognizes that pursuing a degree is a pivotal time for students to learn their professional goals and develop the skills needed to enter the professional sphere. While this internship is unpaid, the intern will have the opportunity to propose a related individual project that can add additional value to their professional portfolio outside of the internship duties.
