Summer Analyst

Summary

Morning Calm Management is excited to announce its flagship Summer Analyst program for Summer 2026.  We are seeking bright, ambitious candidates to join our Capital Markets team for a 10-week period commencing in June 2026 and concluding in August 2026 (exact dates to be finalized).  Participants will sit in Morning Calm’s DC office, which is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC along with the majority of the firm’s investment professionals and its founder and CEO, Mukang Cho.

This program will offer hands-on, on-the-job training as participants shadow full-time investment professionals supporting Morning Calm’s numerous investment initiatives.  Specific tasks will generally fall under the umbrellas of acquisitions, originations and asset management functions, though participants will also gain direct exposure to investor relations, operations and numerous other functions that support the firm’s investments.  Morning Calm’s opportunistic approach to investment selection means Summer Analysts can expect to work on transactions across numerous real estate sectors (e.g., industrial, office, retail, residential) as well as different parts of the capital stack (i.e., equity, preferred equity, senior debt and subordinate debt).  Each participant will also complete a “case study”-style project over the 10-week period in which they research, underwrite and present a theoretical investment to Morning Calm’s investment committee.

All Summer Analysts that successfully complete the program will be considered for full-time employment.  Morning Calm may, at its discretion, extend offers to top performers to return to the team following completion of their undergraduate studies.

Application Requirements and Process

The ideal candidate is a strong academic performer with ambitions to build a career in the fast-paced world of institutional commercial real estate investments.  Excel proficiency will be important for the effective execution of most job functions.  Writing and communication skills are also important, as the Summer Analyst must be capable of presenting work in a cogent, thoughtful manner to senior staff.

To be considered, all applicants must provide (a) a brief cover letter outlining their background and interest in the program, (b) a current resume, (c) a current transcript, and (d) written responses to a to-be-provided questionnaire.  If selected for the interview process, each candidate can expect to participate in 2 rounds of Zoom-enabled video interviews with Morning Calm’s investment team followed by a final, in-person interview at Morning Calm’s DC office.

Compensation and Housing

During the 10-week program, Summer Analysts will receive the prorated equivalent of a first-year Analyst’s salary.  Paychecks will be issued on a bi-weekly basis via direct deposit.

Summer Analysts will be expected to make their own arrangements for housing during the program’s duration.  Morning Calm recommends looking for options that are either (a) walking distance to the office building or (b) walking distance to a DC Metrorail Red Line stop.  The office is located at 1200 17th Street NW, which is just a few blocks (~5 minute walk) from the Farragut North stop on the Red Line.  Many members of Morning Calm’s team commute via train daily and will be happy to provide guidance to any Summer Analysts choosing to do the same.
