Role Description
The Accounting Intern will support the accounting team in the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including the general accounting, reporting and tax functions. The position provides financial information and insight to internal and external customers by recording, researching, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting accounting data. Duties of the position also include maintaining private equity and liquid investment information, ensuring this information is communicated to both internal and external contacts, and correctly reflected in both internally and externally produced financial reports. The position will be responsible for contributing to the monthly close through completion of schedules, reconciliations, and other analysis. The position will prepare financial reports for management, and provide support to the accounting team members, as needed. The position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure assigned accounts are reconciled on a regular basis and that the reconciliations are at the appropriate level of detail and tie to the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as ad hoc management reports.
- Ensure manager communications are accurately saved and communicated to relevant parties.
- Using information provided in the private equity mailbox, maintain the private equity tracking workbook.
- Complete various liquid investment reconciliations and analyze variances.
- Ensure accuracy of externally prepared accounting reports by reviewing data against internal records.
- Interact with both external and internal accounting teams.
- Complete ad hoc projects and provide ad hoc analytical support, including cross-functionally, as requested.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
- A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team context.
The role is intended to run for the duration of the summer on a full-time, in-person basis and part-time during the school year with remote flexibility to accommodate academic responsibilities. We require a minimum of 20 hours per week. Please note that this is a paid position.
