ICCF Capitol Hill Intern

The ICCF Capitol Hill Intern will support the Foundation’s policy team in engaging with Congress, tracking legislative activity, and advancing ICCF’s conservation policy priorities. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in conservation policy, international affairs, and the intersection of government and the private sector.

This internship is a 12 to 14-week-long, unpaid program for college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates and offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international conservation policy, program management, and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Research: Conduct background research and draft memos on U.S. and international conservation issues, federal programs, and related policy initiatives.
  • Legislation Tracking: Monitor relevant bills, hearings, and committee actions; maintain an up-to-date database of legislative developments related to ICCF’s policy priorities.
  • Congressional Engagement: Assist in preparing materials and briefings for meetings with congressional offices and staff.
  • Event & Hearing Attendance: Attend and take notes at congressional hearings, briefings, and partner events on Capitol Hill.
  • Communications Support: Draft summaries, policy updates, and written materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with general program coordination, scheduling, and event logistics as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Availability to commit to 20 hours per week.
  • Strong interest in public policy, conservation, and international development.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. legislative process and current conservation issues preferred.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to engage effectively with congressional staff, government officials, and partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and online legislative tracking tools.
  • Enrollment in or recent completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree program in political science, environmental policy, international relations, or a related field preferred, though not required.
  • Language skills are a plus, though not required.
