Government Affairs Intern

Intersect Government A.airs Internship (Spring 2026)

• End Date: May 4, 2026

• Duration: 16 weeks

• Hours per Week: Minimum 20 hours a week (part time) and up to full time

Intersect Public Affairs is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our growing firm as a Government Affairs Intern.

About Us: We are a small, dynamic government affairs firm based in Washington, D.C.,specializing in helping clients navigate the complexities of federal policy, advocacy, and legislative processes. We work across multiple sectors including telecommunications, energy, finance and the arts offering tailored solutions to our clients in a fast-paced environment. We’re looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and highly organized interns to join our team.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in government relations, policy research, and client services within a close-knit, professional setting.

Responsibilities:

As a Government Affairs Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

• Researching legislative and regulatory issues and preparing briefing materials.

• Monitoring Congressional hearings, bills, and policy developments.

• Assisting in the preparation of client reports, presentations, and correspondence.

• Supporting day-to-day operations of the firm, including scheduling meetings and tracking

deadlines.

• Attending meetings with clients and policymakers (when possible) to observe and assist

in real-time advocacy efforts.

• Drafting memos, policy summaries, and other written content.Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate program.

• Strong interest in government, public policy, and advocacy.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Previous internship or volunteer experience in government, public relations, or related

fields is a plus but not required.
