Investigative Journalism Intern

Unpaid Journalism Internship Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated journalism major who has a true investigative mindset, strong curiosity, and the ability to figure things out independently. This internship is designed for someone who knows how to dig, research, verify information, and follow leads without being micromanaged.

We are a law firm that is regularly fed information relating to developing stories, tips, and issues of public interest on our social media. Your role will be to take assigned story leads and independently follow up on them. This includes researching public records, court filings, government documents, media coverage, timelines, and background facts, identifying gaps in available information, and helping build a complete factual picture of each story.

This position requires genuine self motivation. You must be comfortable working independently, managing your own time, and pursuing answers without constant direction. You will not be successful in this role if you require step by step instruction or ongoing supervision. This is not a passive internship. It is active, investigative, and responsibility driven.

This internship is unpaid and is best suited for a journalism major who wants real world experience in investigative research, fact development, and story building, particularly at the intersection of law, public accountability, and media.

The position does not require in person attendance and may be completed remotely.

Do not apply if you are not self motivated, do not enjoy digging for information, or are uncomfortable independently tracking down facts, sources, and documents. This role requires initiative, persistence, and follow through. Continued participation is dependent on demonstrated ability to self motivate, research independently, and deliver meaningful work product.

This opportunity is ideal for a journalism student who wants hands on experience following real leads, developing stories from raw information, and learning how legal and public records intersect with journalism in real time.
