Job Title: Research Manager 

Classification: Part Time/Full Time, Virtual/Hybrid

 

Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Leadership Institute (BHLI) provides low-barrier medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD) to underserved communities across Baltimore City through partnerships with community-based organizations.  The Research Manager is responsible for overseeing BHLI’s data systems and grant reporting processes. This role manages REDCap administration, ensures data quality through routine audits and coordinates submission of required reports and data requests. The position translates program data into meaningful reports and insights that support funder compliance, operational effectiveness, and continuous quality improvement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Data Systems Management & Administration

  • Serve as REDCap Administrator, including user account creation, access management, and system maintenance.
  • Oversee data collection workflows and ensure proper configuration of forms in Redcap.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of data collection procedures, system processes, and reporting protocols.
  • Ensure secure data management practices consistent with organizational and funder requirements.

 

Data Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Conduct routine (at minimum quarterly) audits of REDCap and related systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
  • Identify discrepancies or gaps in documentation and coordinate corrective actions with clinical and outreach staff.
  • Monitor data integrity to ensure alignment with grant requirements and performance measures.
  • Respond to internal and external data requests in a timely manner.

 

Grant Reporting & Funder Deliverables

  • Coordinate preparation and submission of required grant reports and data deliverables.
  • Translate program data into clear, accurate summaries that demonstrate outcomes and impact.
  • Track reporting timelines to ensure compliance with all funder deadlines.
  • Support leadership in preparing data for proposals, renewals, and external presentations.

 

Data Analysis & Program Support

  • Analyze program data to identify trends, service utilization patterns, and performance indicators.
  • Assist the clinical and outreach teams with data-related questions, troubleshooting, and workflow improvements.
  • Develop data summaries as needed to support management discussions.

 

Supervision & Training

  • Provide onboarding and ongoing REDCap training to clinical and outreach staff.
  • Manage and coordinate Research Assistants to complete assigned data and research tasks.
  • Support staff in maintaining accurate and timely documentation practices.

 

Organizational Collaboration

  • Attend weekly management meetings to provide updates, data insights, and operational recommendations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align data systems with evolving program and funding needs.

 

Preferred Candidate:

BHLI seeks a highly organized and analytically strong candidate with graduate-level training or equivalent experience in public health, epidemiology, social sciences, data science, health services research, or a related field. This part-time position may be well-suited for a graduate student with sufficient availability or a seasoned professional with the required skill set seeking a flexible role. Experience with REDCap or similar data management systems is strongly preferred, though training will be provided for a candidate with demonstrated data analysis and systems aptitude.
