Graphic Design Assistant

Position: Graphic Design Assistant

Position Type: Hybrid (options for in-person and virtual), Part-time, approximately 10-15 hours a week

Semester: Fall 2026, with the potential to continue through Spring 2026

Compensation: $18.00/hour

Department/Office: Do Good Institute

The Do Good Institute is seeking an exceptional student to fill our Graphic Design Assistant position. This position will support the Institute’s social media, multimedia, and print marketing efforts. The Do Good Institute is dedicated to motivating students to do good and equipping them with the skills, experiences and resources that result in a lifelong commitment to social impact. 

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Work within Adobe Illustrator and InDesign to create new designs for marketing Do Good Institute events, initiatives, and services.
  • Build out a library of templates in Canva for social media posts, flyers, and other marketing materials. 
  • Brainstorm marketing and graphic ideas for promoting Do Good Institute programs.
  • Update existing design templates for social media posts and on-campus advertising.
  • Create new and engaging designs for social media and other formats.
  • Work with the communications team to design and produce print media, such as event signage, flyers, brochures, and promotional materials.
  • Organize existing design files, clean out unusable materials, and organize folders for easier use.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be currently enrolled as Maryland undergraduate or graduate students and be able to work 10-15 hours per week. The student is requested to come into the DGI office at least 1-2 times per week, with the option to complete the rest of the hours remotely. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Familiarity with basic visual design principles, such as color and visual hierarchy.
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud software (primarily Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop).
  • Skilled in Canva software, and can translate designs from Adobe Creative Cloud to Canva if needed. 
  • Skilled with intermediate functionality in Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Thorough attention to detail and dedication to producing quality work.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently but proactive in seeking guidance and direction when needed.
