Business Intelligence Intern (SUMMER 2026) (ONSITE ONLY)

VOA is seeking a Business Intelligence Intern to support our Affiliate Relations department. The selected candidate will be an integral part of the Affiliate Relations team and will work on projects relating to business intelligence reporting tools, report development and analytics projects that advance our human services mission through data-driven insights. As an integral member of both the Affiliate Relations department and the 2026 intern cohort, the person in this role will work on initiatives that enhance service delivery and outcomes across VOA's national affiliate network. There will be a primary project as well as additional opportunities to contribute throughout the internship.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit evaluation and business analytics. The ideal candidate must be flexible, self-directed and possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit with excellent writing and communication skills, good time management and be willing to learn new areas. Also, the selected candidate should be a curious problem-solver interested in data analytics, nonprofit management and social impact measurement.
This position is part-time (up to 29 hours per week) and allows for a Hybrid work schedule
The internship is unpaid, however, a stipend is provided
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leverage VOA’s internal data to develop reports providing insight into service and outcomes related data across our affiliate network
- Coalesce external data sources, including federal administrative data, with internal data for benchmarking purposes
- Collaborate with the Affiliate Relations BI team to scope and deliver new business intelligence tools for the organization (e.g dashboards, paginated reports, etc.)
- Practice sound documentation and management using data dictionaries, data glossaries, etc.
- Communicate insights and findings to internal stakeholders as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge and skills in data analysis, data management, and business intelligence
- Passion for making the world a better place
- Commitment to inclusive and collaborative team culture
- Strong written, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, stay organized, and meet deadlines
- General familiarity with SQL, Python, or R a plus
- Proficiency with Excel or BI/data visualization tool(s) (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) a plus

Physical Capabilities:
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Education and Experience:
