Fall 2026 Volunteer Management Intern

Position: Volunteer Management Intern 

Location: Fully Onsite, Washington, DC 20001 

Duration: Fall 

Hours: 10 – 15 Hours

Reports to: Volunteer Services Team 

Compensation: Unpaid. Academic credit may be available depending on school policies. 

About SOME: SOME (So Others Might Eat) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty in Washington, D.C. We provide a range of services, including food, housing, healthcare, substance use treatment, and job training to help people transform their lives and achieve self-sufficiency. Interns play a key role in helping us fulfill our mission. 

Position Overview: SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking a dedicated and organized Volunteer Management Intern to support our Volunteer Services Team. This individual will help coordinate volunteer activities, engage with volunteers at the Father John Adams Resource Center, recruit new volunteers, schedule volunteer groups, and conduct surveys to assess volunteer experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit work, community engagement, and volunteer coordination. 

Key Responsibilities 

Engage with Volunteers: Welcome, support, and assist volunteers entering the Father John Adams Resource Center to ensure a meaningful experience. 

Volunteer Recruitment: Support outreach efforts to recruit new volunteers, including promoting opportunities and responding to inquiries. 

Schedule Groups: Assist in scheduling and coordinating volunteer groups for various programs and events. 

Conduct Volunteer Surveys: Collect and analyze volunteer feedback to help improve SOME’s volunteer programs. 

Data Entry & Documentation: Maintain accurate volunteer records, track participation, and assist in reporting volunteer engagement metrics. 

Communications & Outreach: Support communication efforts, including email correspondence, phone calls, and assisting with volunteer newsletters or social media engagement. 

Event Support: Assist in planning and executing volunteer appreciation events and engagement activities. 

Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as needed to support the Volunteer Services Team.
