Hiring Salary Range: $19.82 - $33.00/hourly
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (Flex Schedule)
Work Location: Herrity Building,12055 Government Center Pkwy, Fairfax, VA 22035 (In-person)
This position reports in-person and is not eligible for telework.
Note: This position will be filled for a maximum term of 6 months or 900 hours, whichever comes first.

Under supervision of the Senior Administrative Assistant within the Site Development and Inspections division, scans and organizes plans, engineering studies and permits, compiles data, deciphers engineering drawings and calculations, navigates computer programs and databases, creates digital organizational structure. Complies with LDS’s safety program and guidelines. Complies with county, agency, and job specific training, including but limited to Emergency Management and Safety related Courses.
NOTE: This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing business needs of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Duty #1 50% Scanning: Scans hard copies of plans, studies, and other documentation. May include use of permitting databases and systems, GIS programs and other tools. Reads and understands basic information found on engineering drawings, engineering calculations and technical reports.
- Duty #2 50% Digital file organization: In consultation with their direct supervisor, and staff in the site code research and development branch, creates an intuitive filing system and consistent naming convention for scanned materials, to integrate into other existing resources to be readily accessible and searchable by SDID staff. The employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing business needs of the organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be currently enrolled in accredited college and/or university

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work independently
- Attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficient with using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Visual acuity to review detailed drawings, plans and documents.
- Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer and operate a digital scanner/copier
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel interview and may include exercise.
