Communications and Field Intern
Intern
The Alliance for Retired Americans is seeking a motivated, energetic intern to work in its Washington DC office for 25-40 hours per week during the summer of 2026 and potentially continuing into fall 2026. The Alliance mobilizes retiree activists around the country to advance a progressive political and economic agenda. Interning for the organization is a great way to gain exposure to the world of grassroots issue advocacy and communications.
Communications
- Promote earned media events across the country
- Create social media content to build support for retirement security, affordable health care, consumer protection
- Write materials for organization’s website, news media outreach, and remarks for retiree leaders
Field Mobilization and Government Relations
- Assist with political candidate endorsement process for political candidates
- Track field events across the country
- Research/update data for voter guides
- Work with Alliance members in key Congressional districts on recess activities
- Respond to Alliance members' inquiries
Desired qualifications include:
- A keen interest (and preferably some background) in progressive politics
- Excellent writing skills
Interns are required to work in-person on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in our Washington, DC office and remotely on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Compensation
$17.95 per hour to start
$18.40 per hour beginning on July 1, 2026
