Senator Elissa Slotkin's Internships

The Office of U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin is hiring interns for the Fall 2026 semester. Internships are available in her Michigan and D.C. office. 

Interns in the Washington, D.C. office will have the opportunity to participate in either a communications internship or a legislative internship. 

Legislative internship duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Pitching a piece of legislation to the Senator for her cosponsorship
  • Drafting constituent correspondence 
  • Answering phones and voicemails 
  • Attending meetings, hearings, and briefings with or on behalf of the legislative team 
  • Assisting with general office duties, including assisting the administrative, legislative, and communications teams with tasks as assigned  

Communications internship duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Pitching an interview or podcast to the Senator and Communications Team
  • Drafting and sending a daily media clips report 
  • Drafting social media and general communications office support 
  • Media monitoring 
  • Assisting with the e-newsletter program 
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned by the Deputy Press Secretary  

 

Interns in the state offices will have the opportunity to shadow outreach, communications, and casework staff. 

State intern duties include: 

  • Pitching a piece of legislation to the Senator for her cosponsorship
  • Answering constituent phone calls and providing front desk coverage 
  • Supporting community outreach and events
  • Assisting with communications research and drafting
  • Supporting casework intake, data entry, and tracking 
  • Preparing materials for meetings and events
  • Providing general administrative support
