Junior Fellowship - Ukraine Program

About the Position:

The McCain Institute at Arizona State University offers part-time junior fellowship opportunities for college students and recent graduates in Washington, DC. Participants in our Junior Fellowship program are eligible for academic credit and receive a stipend for their time at the McCain Institute.

Junior Fellows at the McCain Institute make a direct impact on program development and execution and are offered opportunities to work collaboratively across the organization alongside all levels of staff. Participation in the McCain Institute Junior Fellowship Program places students in the heart of the nation’s capital, giving them access to some of the top foreign policy leaders and allowing them to gain hands-on experience in program development and management while developing a professional skill set that will enable their future professional success.

This Junior Fellow position will be primarily focused on the McCain Institute's Ukraine portfolio, but the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work with the Democracy & Human Rights Working Group, which the McCain Institute coordinates in partnership with peer organizations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and expansion of the McCain Institute's Ukraine programming, including through research, brainstorming, and stakeholder mapping.
  • Draft social media posts related to the McCain Institute's Ukraine work.
  • Monitoring the news for developments relevant to Ukraine, Russia, and the wider Eastern Europe/Eurasia region.
  • Monitoring and flagging potential funding opportunities for the McCain Institute's work on Ukraine and the wider Eastern Europe/ Eurasia region.
  • Assisting with domestic and international travel logistics, including flight bookings, visa applications, and venue bookings.
  • Assisting with stakeholder management, including through written, virtual, and in-person communication with external partners.
  • Attending meetings and events and provide written summaries.
  • Support event planning, including by managing guest lists and day-of- execution.
  • Perform other duties as required.
