Velocity Partners is a strategic advisory firm founded in 2023 by former Axios executives Ali Rubin and Kate Meissner. Based in Washington, D.C., the firm builds category-defining narratives and communications strategies for clients in regulated industries — combining earned media, convenings, and third-party advocacy to shape opinion where policy, culture and business collide.

About You

We’re looking for an ambitious self-starter to join our growing team. You’re hungry, smart, and curious. You also are:

• Entrepreneurial – comfortable solving problems and creating a process from scratch
• Eager to learn, contribute meaningfully, and work without ego
• A critical thinker who understands the drivers of the business and policy ecosystem, beyond communications
• Deeply committed to client service and value delivery
• Curious about the potential of AI in communications, and willing to co-create as we continue to build our custom technology stack 
• Comfortable with tasks large and small: You understand that delivering excellence sometimes means handling logistics alongside strategy
• Willing to work in-person in Washington, DC with us 4-5 days a week 

Job Responsibilities

Your job will be somewhat amorphous as we scale – and you’ll have the opportunity to take on additional and significant responsibilities as we grow, with access to major decision-makers in media, policy, and Corporate America. You’ll initially:

• Conduct regular media monitoring
• Prepare briefing documents for interactions with the press and stakeholders
• Conduct research to drive press outreach and engage in creative storytelling with the media
• Assist in logistics and planning for events, gatherings, and productions
• Bring your unique, outside skills – data analysis, AI operationalization, policy research, etc – to the table
