About ACMER
The American Committee for Middle East Rights (ACMER) is a 501(c)(4) advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening the longstanding relationship between the United States and the Middle East and North Africa through a principled U.S. foreign policy rooted in democratic values and human rights.
About the Role
ACMER is seeking a highly motivated Political Intern to support research and administrative efforts related to U.S. elections and Middle East foreign policy. This role is ideal for an undergraduate student who is genuinely excited about electoral politics, brings strong research and writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The intern will support candidate and race tracking and research, ACMER MERIT PAC’s endorsement process, and other day-to-day administration operations for our political work.
Key Responsibilities
Political & Election Research
- Research U.S. Senate and House races in the 2026 midterm elections
- Track candidate positions, endorsements, polling, fundraising, and campaign developments
- Monitor election news, political trends, and legislative activity
- Compile briefing memos, summaries, and research reports on competitive races
- Maintain databases and trackers for candidates, races, and policy positions
- Support candidate vetting and endorsement research processes
Middle East Policy Research
- Research candidates’ and elected officials’ positions on Middle East and North Africa policy
- Analyze speeches, interviews, voting records, and public statements
- Monitor developments in U.S.-MENA foreign policy
- Prepare concise policy summaries and comparative analysis documents
- Assist in identifying key stakeholders, advocacy groups, and political influencers
Administrative Support
- Assist with scheduling meetings, calendar management, and meeting logistics
- Organize research files, spreadsheets, and internal documents
- Prepare presentation materials and briefing packets
- Support event preparation, note-taking, and meeting follow-ups
- Handle other general administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled undergraduate studying Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Middle Eastern Studies, Journalism, or other related fields
- Genuine enthusiasm for electoral politics and a drive to understand how campaigns, advocacy, and policy intersect
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills with demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to synthesize information quickly and efficiently under a deadline
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other database tools
- Ability to commit to the full internship period through November 2026
Preferred Background
- Prior relevant experience (including internships) with a political campaign, Hill office, advocacy organization, or research setting
- Experience with candidate research, electoral tracking, or policy analysis
- Familiarity with Middle East political issues and current
- Strategic communications and briefing preparation experience
