Analytics Intern
FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:
Analytics Interns will apply their knowledge and understanding of related principles and practices gained from their program of study to support an assigned project. Project topics can range from data analytics, project management, and geospatial analytics to code and model development. PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for this program all applicants must have earned at least 48 credit hours towards a bachelors degree, and be currently enrolled in either a bachelors or graduate degree program with a college or university accredited by a national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This job is for use only with the internship program. Internships begin in the fall, spring, or summer and typically last for at least 10 weeks. To be eligible for this program, applicants must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program with a college or university accredited by a national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support assigned project(s) by applying relevant knowledge, practices and methodologies; collaborates with team to analyze and define data requirements for the organization.
2. Develops an understanding of project assignment including goals, tasks, deadlines and key stakeholders. Uses standard project management tools and techniques (e.g., Agile, Lean). Communicates updates and project developments as needed.
3. Develops project-related materials (e.g., pans, timelines) and supports project-related meetings and brainstorming sessions. Assists in developing communications materials (e.g., business cases, status updates, reports, presentations) to provide information to internal and external clients.
4. Collaborates with CIO groups and business units to analyze data and to identify opportunities and trends for improving processes.
5. Collaborates with internal stakeholders in Operations to determine organizational priorities and increase efficiencies.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to coordinate work, maintain positive work relationships and interact with a team sufficient to complete assignments, including communicating orally and in writing and completing tasks independently.
2. Ability to attend to details sufficient to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of work.
3. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a succinct and organized manner; producing written materials, taking into account proper audience, content, format, and grammar.
4. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,) sufficient to analyze data, create and format reports, and create presentations.
5. Ability to acquire new knowledge and skills through on-the-job training and self-directed learning, including researching information using various sources of information such as existing policies, processes, systems, databases and online references, and using problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and develop solutions.
6. Ability to think critically to assess the current needs of the organization and develop solutions to grow revenue and/or cut costs.
7. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program with at least 48 earned credit hours towards a bachelors degree in one of the following fields: Data Science, Data Analytics, Geospatial Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, Information Technology, or a related field to one specified above from an accredited college or university by a national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education.
8. SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Applicant must pass and maintain a Moderate Background Investigation (MBI). This investigation requires, among other things, completion of a questionnaire, fingerprinting for a criminal records check, and credit check. A drug test may be required.
