Fund Operations Automation Intern
Job Description:
RockCreek is a DC-based leading global investment firm that applies cutting-edge technology and innovation to investments. We strive to generate returns and be at the forefront of change through public and private investments globally.
We're seeking a Fund Operations Automation Intern to join our innovative team and play a key role in transforming how investment data is collected, processed, and managed across the firm. This is a unique opportunity to build technology solutions that directly impact investment operations while working alongside industry-leading investment, accounting, and operations professionals.
This is a part-time position designed for a current undergraduate or graduate student interested in building technology solutions for investment operations. The role offers significant hands-on experience developing automation, AI-driven workflows, and data integration tools within a leading global investment firm.
This position is ideal for an early-career candidate with strong technical and problem-solving skills who is excited about combining software development, automation, AI, and financial operations.
Collaborative Team Engagement:
At RockCreek, we operate as an integrated team dedicated to delivering exceptional performance for our clients. Our Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams function as a cohesive, cross-functional organization rather than operating in isolation. Investment professionals, accountants, operations specialists, and technology teams work together to drive innovation and improve processes across the firm.
We encourage you to become part of a team that values innovation, entrepreneurship, excellence, and professional growth.
What You'll Do:
- Build Process Automation Solutions: Design, develop, and maintain automation tools that streamline fund operations workflows, including document collection, data extraction, reconciliation, and investment reporting processes.
- Develop Portal Integration Workflows: Build solutions that interact with investment manager portals to retrieve capital call notices, distribution notices, account statements, and other investment documents and organize them within RockCreek's internal systems.
- Apply AI and Modern Technology: Leverage AI tools, APIs, OCR technology, machine learning, and workflow automation platforms to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Create Data Pipelines and Reporting Tools: Develop systems that collect, structure, validate, and distribute investment data from external sources for internal reporting and analysis.
- Partner with Investment and Operations Teams: Work closely with accounting, operations, and investment professionals to identify inefficiencies and design technology-driven solutions that improve accuracy, scalability, and transparency.
- Drive Innovation Initiatives: Research and implement emerging technologies that can enhance investment operations, document management, and workflow automation.
- Support Other Strategic Projects: Participate in special projects and firmwide technology initiatives as RockCreek continues to expand and modernize its operating platform.
What We're Looking For:

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently

- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and ownership mentality
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Interest in investment management, financial markets, and private investments
Education / Experience

- 0-1 years of relevant internship or work experience
- Experience building software projects, automation tools, applications, or data solutions through internships, academic projects, research, or personal projects

Why This Role Is Unique
This role offers the opportunity to build the next generation of RockCreek's operational infrastructure. The successful candidate will help create technology that automatically retrieves investment documents, extracts key data from capital calls and distributions, organizes information across systems, and enables a more scalable operating model. This is not a traditional operations role. It is an opportunity to act as a builder, developer, and innovator at the intersection of technology and investment management.
