Main Purpose
The main purpose of the internship is to support technical officer to carry out the studies on analysis of transport safety aspects of innovative reactors including front end and back-end fuel cycle of these reactor fuel.
Tasks / Key Results Expected
- Collect and review the existing material on safe transport of radioactive material, SMRs design and associated fuel safety , transportability characteristics, including existing IAEA presentations on the domain of concern.
- Assist to perform study and analysis of transport safety aspects of SMRs and associated fuel characteristics.
- Structure the material (document and presentations) as user-friendly set of files available for staff and member states
- Participate in relevant IAEA activities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of the Safe transport of radioactive material and innovative reactor designs (Required)
- Analysis capabilities
- Good command in using MS Office programmes (Required)
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, reactor physics
- Excellent written and spoken English essential; fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) an asset.
Applicant Eligibility
- Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years of age and have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree.
- Candidates may apply up to one year after the completion of a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
- Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship programme.
- Excellent written and spoken English essential; fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) an asset.
- Candidates must attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application.
