Monitoring Analyst, Compliance Risk & Due Diligence
Position Summary
TDI — the strategic advisory and risk intelligence firm — is currently looking for a Monitoring Analyst to join us and directly support the production of client deliverables within the firm’s Due Diligence and Investigations (DD&I) practice in our Washington, D.C. office. The DD&I practice is responsible for conducting sophisticated open-source and human intelligence investigations that directly inform our client’s most critical business decisions and help them mitigate, manage, or exploit risk by providing the best intelligence available. This position is based in our Washington, D.C. office.
The successful candidate is expected to quickly conduct investigative research and analysis—using open sources and proprietary resources—to identify and report pertinent regulatory and reputational matters related to our clients’ distributors, agents, and other third parties. This is an ideal role for an early career candidate with an interest in regulatory and sanctions compliance, OSINT technology, and data visualization. Candidates will be asked to complete a diagnostic test to assess their research, writing, and analytical capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor international media coverage using a range of open-source and proprietary data sources to gather coverage from print, digital, television, radio, and social media.
- Produce concise, Client-ready deliverables and sources of information.
- Manage and understand multiple client specific requests with competing deadlines.
- Conduct detailed research on entities and/or individuals of interest.
- Process and store sensitive information, including PII, in accordance with Information Management System policies. Promptly report potential security incidents to the Information Technology team.
Required Experience
- At least 1-2 years of relevant professional experience (including internships), specifically conducting open-source research, writing client deliverables, data analytics, or related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, criminology, regional studies, business, or related area of study.
- Professional fluency in English required.

- Background in Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques.
- Professional proficiency in a second language such as Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, or Arabic.
- Familiarity with basic data manipulation and visualization software tools is a plus.
- Experience with web scraping tools or coding a plus.

Compensation: $55,000 – $60,000
Compensation decisions are influenced by various factors, such as knowledge, skills, attributes, experience, training, licensure, certifications, location, travel requirements, and other business and organizational needs.
