Intern, The Office of Economic Policy, U.S. Treasury Department

The Office of Economic Policy reports on current and prospective economic developments and assists in the determination of appropriate economic policies. Interns will work directly with senior economists on a wide variety of in-depth studies in areas, including (but not limited to) the Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs, housing, labor markets, education, energy and the environment and infrastructure. The results of these analyses are used as major inputs for developing Treasury and Administration economic policy positions.
Candidates should have strong writing skills, be able to work independently as well as collaborate with other interns, be well organized and highly motivated. Knowledge of software packages Excel, Stata, or R is a plus, a class in econometrics or statistics required. Interns are expected to work between 30 and 40 hours a week, though we allow flexibility for required class time. Our intern positions are unpaid; however, we are able to subsidize public transportation costs.
U.S. citizenship required. All candidates must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a college or university. For further information, please email StudentEmployment@treasury.gov.
