Executive Department Intern

Description and Requirement

 Maryland Auto Insurance is a Property & Casualty Insurance carrier and independent agency of the State of Maryland. We’re located in the Locust Point neighborhood of Baltimore, featuring a variety of restaurant and shopping options in walking distance from the office.

Maryland Auto Insurance seeks candidates to fill part time, contractual role in our Executive Internship Program. This is a part time position with a maximum of 29 hours per week. Students are eligible to earn college credit through their school (or institution).

The Executive Department Intern will report directly to the Senior Executive Associate & Executive Director providing direct support to Executive department functions. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge Microsoft 365 suite programs as well as a demonstrated ability to successfully communicate with co-workers at all organizational levels, establish and meet deadlines, and participate in discussions.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Support Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, Senior Executive Associate, Government Relations, and any other Director/department as needed.
  2. Work on various projects with support from the Senior Executive Associate
  3. Able to propose, create, and maintain measurement & monitoring methods for workflow processes and business results. 
  4. Communicate effectively & professionally to constituents and external contacts.
  5. Will learn how to schedule meetings and track responses from colleagues.
  6.  Attend bi-weekly meetings with employees in person.
  7.  Attend meetings as needed.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

 

Pursuit of Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional certification.

Other Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Business English (spelling, grammar, punctuation)
  • Confidence in multitasking
  • Basic knowledge/skills in the use of IT equipment, office practices and procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees, industry-related professionals, and the general public
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively and set and meet deadlines
