Clinical Services Assistant- Christ House

The Clinical Services Assistant position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in a supportive medical setting. This position involves assisting our clinical staff in providing holistic care for our patients in our medical respite unit. This role is ideal for those considering a career in health care. This role requires working some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

1. Direct patient care (50%)
• Welcome and orient new patients to the respite unit
• Measure and record vital signs
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and cleanliness of environment
• Perform dressing changes and basic treatments
• Support patients in attending scheduled meetings and meals and prepare patients for outside appointments
• Complete daily cleaning assignments to include laundry room, treatment room, patient room, and showers
• Understand and promote safety and infection control policies and procedures and perform job in a safe manner (i.e., universal precautions, hand-washing, use of gloves, etc.)
• Understand role in emergency situations, both medical (i.e., patient falls) and mental health emergencies (i.e., patient who presents a clear danger to themselves or others)
• Accompanies patients to appointments when needed
2. Administrative clinical support (35%)
• Provide back-up support to the unit clerk, including but not limited to creating and managing patient records, scheduling appointments, and communicating with external providers
• Collaborates with Charge Nurse and other clinical staff to organize transportation to and from appointments and coordinate care on medical floor
• Collaborates with Nurse Manager to manage data collection and monthly statistics reports
• Assists with monthly supply inventory and ordering
• Ensures all data entry and paperwork is complete and accurate
3. Departmental support (10%)
• Assists Volunteer Office and Patient Services Assistant in planning and implementing patient activities (approximately once a week)
• Supports Development office by gathering patient stories for use in communications
• Participates in the life of the Christ House community by attending events and activities
• Assists other departments as requested
4. Other duties as assigned (5%)
