Social Media Intern
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Marketing and Communications Intern will gain valuable and meaning experience directly supporting the Marketing and Communications team with video editing, administrative processes, communications planning, special projects, marketing, social media strategies, and additional responsibilities, as needed.
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation is seeking a passionate and creative individual with a strong interest in storytelling and community engagement through marketing and social media. Candidates must be able to commit to a 6-month paid internship, working 15 – 25 hours per week, in a hybrid work setting with some in-office days from the DC office.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
May be responsible for one or more of the following:
• Edit and produce engaging video content for social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook
• Collaborate closely with the Social Media Manager to create, edit, schedule, and publish
engaging content that aligns with the Foundation’s mission, messaging, and goals
• Assist in monitoring and managing community engagement by responding to comments,
messages, and interactions, fostering a supportive and informed community
• Track, compile and analyze social media reports and performance metrics, (e.g., engagement rates, follower growth, post/video performance), providing recommendations for communications and campaign strategies.
• Stay up to date on social media trends and best practices, particularly around video and short-form content and content optimization to platform-specific trends, formats, and audience preferences
• Assist with on-site support including calendaring, gathering materials, scheduling interviews and meetings, in-person and virtual event support, capturing live content and key takeaways, and various marketing and communications projects
• Draft and edit a variety of content to support communications and marketing efforts, including statements, email newsletters, blogs, media advisories, press releases, social copy, website copy, talking points, program descriptions, and promotional brochures
• Track and archive photos and visual assets
• Connect with military and veteran caregivers to better understand the audience we serve and cultivate an understanding of trending topics in the military, veteran, and caregiving community spaces
• Additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Recent graduate or current Junior/Senior student with a concentration in journalism,
communications, PR/marketing, public affairs, political science, English, or a related discipline
• Experience with video editing software (e.g. Adobe Final Cut Pro, Cap Cut, iMovie)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Interest in and/or experience working with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram,
LinkedIn, X, TikTok)
• Proficient in AP Style
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and sense of humor
• Strong writing, copywriting, copy-editing, and research skills
• Detail oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills; the ability to listen and communicate (both verbally and in writing) clearly and accurately
• Capable of working independently, but willing to take directions and ask questions to meet team
goals and ensure projects are in line with objectives
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with email marketing software (e.g. MailChimp, Account Engagement, Constant
Contact), media tracking services, or web-editing software (e.g. WordPress, Webflow)
• Familiarity with Airtable
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and social content management
• Connection to the military community is not required, but will be considered during the
application review process
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s compensation strategy is based on equity and transparency. When determining salary offers, the candidate’s directly applicable experience will be taken into consideration as well as internal equity within the range. The is a part-time position with 15-20 hours per week and the starting pay is $17.50 per hour.
As this is a temporary, part-time position, it is generally not eligible for company provided benefits.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Ability to work from home and within an office environment and have significant interaction via telephone, videoconference, IM and email with the Foundation’s national team
• Ability to routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
