About our internship program –
The Eradicate Hate internship program helps shape the next generation of professionals in violence prevention through meaningfully contributing to our programs, working groups, and the Global Summit.
We offer students and recent graduates paid internships for up to 12 weeks each spring, summer, and fall to help us drive the development and deployment of effective approaches to reduce hate-fueled violence.
We seek undergraduates, graduate students, PhD candidates, and JD candidates from across disciplines to support our work. We highly encourage those in mental and behavioral health, public policy, law, education, sociology, criminology, communications, data science, digital development, marketing and PR, and graphic design to apply.
Our internship program is offered entirely remote or hybrid in Pittsburgh or Washington, D.C. Interns receive a stipend of $4,000 and are expected to contribute between 25-35 hours per week. All eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
SUMMER 2025 POSITIONS

Programs Internship
Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Programs Intern to join our team and support our Eradicate Hate programs and initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs focused on violence prevention, community engagement, and education. The ideal candidate will assist in program planning, outreach, partner coordination, and the development of online educational materials and resources.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team to plan and support Eradicate Hate programs and working groups, including the Practitioners Network (PPN), Invent2Prevent, SCREEN Hate, and all our working groups.
- Assist in outreach efforts and the development of the PPN, engaging with stakeholders in the mental and behavioral health sectors, law enforcement, education, and community services.
- Serve as a liaison between partner organizations, PPN, and the core team to facilitate communication and collaboration.
- Contribute to the development of online educational materials and resources to support program objectives and participant learning.
- Assist in research activities, including conducting open-source research, reviewing academic journals, and synthesizing literature to inform program content and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word, for data analysis, reporting, and file organization.
- Background in violence prevention, public safety, public health, social work, or a related field, with a passion for addressing hate-fueled violence.
- Experience with open-source research, academic journals, literature reviews, or evidence-based practices to inform program development.
- Prior experience in program coordination, instructional design, curriculum development, or related areas is strongly preferred.
Communications and Marketing Internship
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Communications and Marketing Intern to join our team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain firsthand experience in communications strategy, writing and editing, and developing public materials for our programs and campaigns. The ideal candidate will assist in various aspects of branding, marketing, communications, social media, and administrative support.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop our programs’ promotional public material, collateral, social media content, and marketing.
- Track and synthesize our data analytics, campaign metrics, and key performance indicators.
- Translate and tailor reports, written material, and initiatives into easily accessible material for the general public and specific audiences.
- Draft and prepare public remarks and presentations.
Qualifications:
- A background in marketing, public relations, communications, business, or any other related field.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in marketing, graphic design, and social media tools (HubSpot, Neon, Google Analytics, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
- Knowledge of targeted violence prevention and/or public health preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Nonprofit Management and Administrative Internship
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Nonprofit Management and Administrative Intern to join our team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain firsthand experience in nonprofit operations, fundraising, and administrative tasks within a dynamic and mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate will assist in various aspects of operational strategy, database management, award timeline coordination, grant reporting, and administrative support.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team on operational strategy and support, including fundraising initiatives and program development.
- Update and maintain our CRM databases, such as Neon and Govenda, to ensure accurate and up-to-date donor information.
- Provide administrative support by managing award timelines, preparing grant reports, and compiling board materials for meetings.
- Assist in special projects and initiatives as needed to support the organization's mission and goals.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in or a recent graduate of a relevant program, such as nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- Strong interest in nonprofit management, awards management, and the philanthropic sector.
- Proficiency in Office 365 applications, Microsoft Teams, and experience with database management systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
