Financial Risk Consultant Intern

Operating in 50 countries worldwide, Atradius N.V. is a growing and dynamic company that offers trade credit insurance solutions for businesses operating both domestically and internationally.  Through its US subsidiary, Atradius Trade Credit Insurance Inc, an opportunity exists to join our Risk Services Team in Hunt Valley, Maryland as a part-time Financial Risk Consultant Intern within our Risk Services Special Risk Management team. For the right candidate, this is a paid internship in a global, fast-paced business environment where everyone’s contribution is valued.

Financial Risk Consultant (Part-Time / Internship) – RS5 SRM Buyer Underwriting

Reporting to a senior SRM team member, the right candidate will support the SRM team to actively monitor and assess high-risk companies for which Atradius recognizes credit exposure. Concurrently, the right candidate will assist the SRM team in facilitating communications, ensuring data integrity and compliance, as well as general administrative duties. This is a paid part-time internship (15 - 30 hours per week) located at the Atradius regional headquarters in Baltimore. Compensation is $18 per hour and is non-negotiable

RS5 Unit - SRM Team (Special Risk Management)

Special Risk Management (SRM) is a unique, value proposition unit within the Risk Underwriting Team and consist of an experienced team of experts to manage high risk buyer underwriting and high value recovery opportunities.  SRM will establish strategies to underwrite and monitor high risk companies as well as directing the course of recovery on larger reported debts to minimize the trading losses for our clients.

Key attributes of this position include:

  • Demonstrate an inclination to understand financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement & Accompanying Notes)
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication with both internal and external stakeholders 

Core responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough exposure analysis and deliver comprehensive reports to SRM team for informed decision-making
  • Analyze Atradius Policies to identify and compile a list of risk extending modules and grace periods
  • Completing necessary actions and allocating work-flow cases from central in-trays
  • Scan and spread financial statements into Atradius’ proprietary Buyer Underwriting system
  • Prospect executives from companies of all sizes to request financial statements and/or additional relevant information necessary to effectively manage credit risk within the buyer portfolio
  • Perform ad hoc reviews of subsidiary and affiliate relationships including confirmation of legal status
  • Special projects and general clerical duties as required

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate is a college student living in Maryland and working towards a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field with expected graduation in 2027 or later. The ideal candidate also recognizes flexibility in their schedule to commit between 15-30 hours per week in our Hunt Valley office. Must be able to work at least two days a week in our Hunt Valley office throughout the year.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office software suite is required, and effective written and verbal communication skills are critical for the position.
