
Enterprise Risk Management Intern
The Enterprise Risk Management Intern will help coordinate and implement a project involving the documentation of the organization’s governance framework. The intern will evaluate policies and procedures looking for gaps and overlaps and, once found, work with the business line leaders to change. The intern will perform project management and administrative activities for the department.
Who You Will Work With
The position will report directly to the Senior Director, Governance, Risk & Compliance. The position will support multiple departments across the enterprise and liaison with other ERM staff at Farmer Mac. In addition, the position will liaison with business line leaders as necessary.
Where and When You Will Work
The position will be based in Farmer Mac’s headquarters located at 2100 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. Core business hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 p.m. Eastern for a minimum of 10 hours and a maximum of 20 hours per week during the school year. Farmer Mac has a Presence with Purpose work environment, which allows for flexibility of work location while providing the opportunity for teams to come together in the office with purpose. Work outside of these times may be required for planned and unplanned activities for the purposes of completion of a time sensitive project or attendance at offsite meetings. Periodic travel is expected of this position to assist with events.

- Proficient and up to date in all Microsoft Office suite and communication tools.
- Strong attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing written materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Thought-provoking collaborator and exceptional team player to other members of the Enterprise Risk team and cross-functional partners of the enterprise.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours, residing in the Washington DC area to ensure onsite presence in the office on a regular basis and travel periodically to assist with events as necessary.
- Strong writing skills.
Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled junior, senior, or grad student who is pursuing a degree in Communications, English, Business or Marketing. Other related areas of study or equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Some experience in a business analyst or technical writing role.
- Familiarity with or interest in developing online training programs.
- Minimum GPA of 3.4.
Hourly pay for an undergraduate would be $18.
Hourly pay for a graduate-level student would be $22.
