The World Affairs Councils of America is seeking Fall Semester 2025 Interns (undergraduate or graduate students) to intern in one or more departments at our headquarters office in Washington, DC. If legally eligible to receive payment, interns will receive a $2500 stipend payable upon successful completion of internship in December 2025. 

Duties and Responsibilities (dependent on specific department)

  • Assistance in planning and facilitation of annual events such as Academic WorldQuest, National Conference, Student Scholars, Council Leadership Meetings and other flagship programming
  • Researching content for Academic WorldQuest and other materials
  • Development assistance for branding strategies, updating website and drafting newsletter content
  • Updating and maintenance of speaker database, Council contacts, and Council directory
  • Researching potential donors and national partners
  • Collaborating on processing of event registrations, dues payments, and donations
  • Working in accordance with and supporting WACA’s mission, goals, values, & strategic direction
  • Performing other duties, including assistance with special projects, as assigned
     

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Verified enrollment in an accredited degree program in International Relations, Political Science, History, Foreign Languages, Business, Hospitality, Communications, or related major.
  • Organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task and work well with others
  • Ability to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to learn quickly; high problem-solving proficiency
  • Ability to take accountability for multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload, and remain organized in a deadline sensitive environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Professionalism, discretion, and integrity, particularly with personal or confidential information

Preferred: 

  • Junior, senior, or graduate student status
  • Intercultural competency as evidenced by prior work experience, study, or travel abroad
  • Prior volunteer experience in the nonprofit field
  • Research experience (qualitative or quantitative)
  • Proficiency in languages other than English
