Academic Credit Summer Intern - Budget and Finance - Taxpayer Services
The Baltimore County Office of Budget and Finance, Taxpayer Services, is seeking Student Interns for the Summer 2025 Semester!
The mission of the Baltimore County Government Academic Credit Internship Program is to provide students with valuable experiences working in the public sector while acquiring school credit. The internship program will help bridge the gap between the academic and professional environments.
The program will also strive to foster ongoing professional relationships, in hopes that the student will seek future employment with Baltimore County Government.
This internship will prepare students to become competent and effective business professionals. This program provides our students with a means to integrate academic theories and principles with practical job experience through internships, thereby reinforcing and expanding classroom learning while preparing them for postgraduate employment.
Baltimore County Government will work with the intern and their school's academic department to ensure that the internship meets the criteria necessary for academic credit.
The summer internship will begin June 2025.
Schedule: Up to 34 hours per week. Monday to Friday.
Examples of Duties
Job Purpose
Under general supervision, the intern will work with the Taxpayer Services Manager and other administrators by participating in ongoing projects (both small and large).
Examples of Essential Duties
- Through this experience, the intern will reach the following goals:
- Assist the student's development of employer-valued skills such as teamwork, communications, and attention to detail.
- Expose the student to professional role models or mentors who will provide the student with support in the early stages of the internship and provide an example of the behaviors expected in the intern's workplace.
- Enhance and/or expand the student's knowledge of a particular area(s) of Taxpayer Services.
- Increase the students understanding of applied project management theory to real life projects.
- Increase the students understand the basics and complexity of simple and large projects.
Examples of Other Duties
Performs spreadsheet data entry and/or word processing.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Eligibility Requirements
- Undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year and graduate students actively attending an accredited college or university are eligible.
- Students must have at least a 2.8 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at the undergraduate level or at least a 3.0 GPA at the graduate level.
- A college transcript is required as evidence of GPA and year. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 34 hours per week.

Conditions of Employment
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Must have reliable transportation and be able to work a minimum of 34 hours per week.
The work of this internship may vary, but most often involves frequent walking and standing, some lifting and carrying of objects of moderate weight.
Employment Background Investigation and Drug Screen
Applicants selected for an internship with Baltimore County must successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen.
