FALL HEALTH AND REIMBURSEMENT POLICY INTERN
Kimbell & Associates provides legislative, regulatory and policy solutions to clients in the life sciences community. Founded in 1998, the firm focuses on the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. federal government and specializes in providing strategic solutions to a select group of healthcare sector clients seeking creation, modification, or proper implementation of public law.
JOB TITLE: Intern, Health and Reimbursement Policy (Fall 2025)
COMPENSATION: Hourly rate or academic credits if applicable
GENERAL FUNCTIONS: The Health and Reimbursement Policy Intern will provide support to the Health and Reimbursement Policy Team in meeting the health policy and reimbursement counseling needs of our life sciences clients. The intern will assist in performing research, monitoring, drafting summaries, and preparing client work product. A typical day will be active and ever-changing, thus flexibility is key to success in the intern role. General duties and responsibilities, as well as desired knowledge and skills of potential candidates, are described below.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform research, conduct analyses, and prepare summaries, presentations or other requested work product outlining the implications of healthcare-related federal legislation, proposed and final rulemakings, and agency guidance documents for general client distribution and/or specific client interests
- Assist in tracking and updating clients on federal healthcare implementation activities
- Attend public hearings and meetings regarding issues of interest to clients
- Synthesize and summarize outcomes of hearings and meetings for firm personnel and/or clients
- Assemble and distribute weekly schedule of Federal agency/department public meetings/hearings/mark-ups of interest to clients
- Assemble and distribute weekly briefing document to clients summarizing the previous week’s regulatory and policy developments
- Track client deliverables and assist with routine correspondence with clients, including administrative tasks, as needed
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Coursework in health policy, government, healthcare management, and science is preferable
- Hill or Federal health policy experience, including knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, is a plus. Past experience working on drug, biologic, and medical device issues is also a plus.
- Strong analytic (qualitative and quantitative) and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and judgment
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a fast- paced environment, balance multiple tasks, and adapt quickly to new challenges
- Must be a self-starter who is able to proactively monitor for issues of interest to clients
- Ability to work supervised and unsupervised on project-based work
- Willingness to work in teams and coordinate closely with other firm employees
- Ability to maintain a regular, predictable and timely attendance, with the flexibility to perform the essential duties of the position
- Willingness to perform administrative tasks, such as notetaking, preparing binders, and preparing for meetings
